The front pastedown has a genteel ex-libris plate showing previous ownership by the academic S E B Bouverie-Pusey (his family once held the manor of Pusey in Berkshire). The frontispage has another attractive ex-libris plate (wood-block engraving) showing previous ownership by Guy Carleton Jones, after whom the South African mining town, Carletonville was named (Carleton Jones was instrumental in discovering the lost large reef that stretched from Randfontein all the way to Potchefstroom). The boards are resolutely sure. They have wear and scuffing about all edges, corners and seams. The spine has been repaired with a leather patch. The binding has also been repaired. The pagetrims are rough trimmed. They have handling wear and storage dusting. The contents are most pleasing - especially taking the book's age…
