Fugate was a gay activist and author. Fugate served in the Navy, and in between stints in the service, wrote his first novel Quatrefoil. When it was revealed he was the author, he was honorably discharged from the Navy. This experience led him to take an active role in working for gay rights. GOOD jacket on a VERY GOOD book.
