This is a Good Only Copy of this book in original publisher's cloth with gilt title lettering to spine.There is a small chip to cloth of approx 8-10mm to head of spine.The book has NO previous names or inscriptions present.The book has a firm binding with just a little stitching showing through to the front and rear gutter hinge joins.Complete with nearly 200 marvellous woodcuts as called for.The internal text block is pretty clean internally with just a little dartkening to the page edges and one ink mark to the final endpaper and edge of rear pastedown,but not significant.Decent copy for the collector 8vo (xviii) 526pp Plus ads at rear dated 1845,copyright page states 1837. . In very good condition. Corners bumped and slightly nicked at top end. Two small nicks/chips to cloth at bottom end and one to top end of spine. Some minor light rubbing to boards. Front hinge cracked between endpapers, small previous owners labels to corner of endpaper “A.J. Wise.” Small chip to top inside edge of loose front endpaper. Some minor foxing to blank endpaper sides, inside pages all very clean, bright and tight throughout. Else a very good clean and tight copy. 474pp + 2pp advert. Illustrated with 160 B&W woodcut figures, including pictorial tailpieces.

Bound with leather over the spine and corners, 5 raised bands along the spine, black leather title plate with gilt titles and gilt lines along edges of the raised bands. Green cloth covered boards. Some rubbing to boaards, top layer of leather scraped here and there, including to a small area of the title plate. Marbled page edges all around, and marbled end papers. Hinge and text-block tight. Owner's bookplate inside the front. Silk ribbon attached. Some light foxing to the preliminary pages thereafter remarkably clear, pages smooth and clean, with lovely wood-cuts within text. Artist not named.

This book is hard-bound in a fine binding of 1/2 green leather, with marbled paper covered boards, with gilt stamping and raised bands on the spine. The covers show some light scuffing, edge-wear, and light rubbing to the joints, corners and spine-ends. There is some scuffing/sunning to the spine. The binding is solid. The contents are bright and generally clean, with illustrations, but also with some scattered foxing and soiling. .
