Cloth; endpapers lightly tanned; an excellent copy with the price-clipped dustwrapper with a few slight scratches (chiefly to the rear panel). 'The Italian paintings of the 14th and 15th century paintings which have appeared in sale-rooms and private collections, mostly during the years between the two world wars, but whose whereabouts are [or were when he wrote] unknown. The number and quality of these works will surprise most readers. They are pictures which never appear in histories of art' (dustwrapper).
