New York: Lorenz Gude. Very Good. 1963. First Edition; First Printing. Stapled wraps. Side-stapled poetry magazine on legal size sheets. This copy has no cover. Wraps are lightly browned with age and are toned around the edges. Front wrap has faint soil marks around the edges and a small tear on the top left corner. Rear wrap is also lightly soiled and shows some rubbing; top edge of page is worn and the bottom corner at the spine has a small fold. Interior pages mostly clean, lightly toned with some chipped edges. This rare poetry magazine features Ron Padgett, Joseph Ceravolo, Ted Berrigan, Lorenzo Thomas, Barbara Guest and more. ; Vol. 1; Folio 13" - 23" tall .

Description:
New York: Lorenz & Ellen Gude, 1964. The seventh issue of one of the important journals of the mimeo revolution, which featured many of the most prominent New York School poets and artists. C was edited by Ted Berrigan and published from 1963-67 in New York City by Lorenz Gude. 14 issues were ultimately published. This issue features a cover design by Joe Brainard and five preliminary leaves with mimeographed prints byhim. This issue features contributions from Ted Berrigan, Tom Veitch, Joe Ceravolo, Ron Padgett, John Wieners, Tony Towle, Lorenzo Thomas (Toumes), Frank Lima, John Perreault, Frank O'Hara, Kenward Elmslie, James Schuyler, Edwin Denby, Harry Fainlight, and Dick Gallup. Side-stapled 14" x 8 ½" leaves, [50] leaves mimeographed on rectos only. All stapled missing saving one, which is holding all the leaves securely; wear and small closed tears along the edges, small piece lacking from the bottom corner of the cover sheet.

Description:
New York: Lorenz and Ellen Gude, 1964. Summer 1964 number of Ted Berrigan's C: A Journal of Poetry, signed by contributor William S. Burroughs. In 1963, administrators at Columbia University pulled one of Berrigan's poems from The Columbia Review, objecting to his use of the word "fuck." In response, Berrigan and his friend Ron Padgett borrowed an off-campus mimeograph to print their own literary magazine, The Censored Review. That act of protest gave rise to C: A Journal of Poetry, a cornerstone of the Mimeo Revolution in New York City. Between 1963 and 1967, Berrigan published a freewheeling mix of New York School poets, Beat writers, and downtown artists; Andy Warhol's first experiments with silkscreened Polaroids serve as the covers of the September 1963 number.
