London & Torquay. Simkin and Marshall & Cockrem 1832, 1832. Hardcover. 12mo, 17.5cm, 2nd edition, viii,288p., lithographed frontis and engraved vignette half title page & 8 view plates, 11 text figures, tissue guards, 1 coloured map, disbound and amateurishly bound in to another binding of quarter grey cloth and blue marbled boards, stain on the half title, frontis and a bit on the tp., some foxing on the plates otherwise internally sound and very good, very rare (tds). - First published in 1830, demand necessitated this much expanded second edition in 1833. Octavian Blewitt (1810-1884) was the secretary of the Royal Literary Fund from 1839. The topographical map first included in the second edition was drawn by R. Brown in 1832. cf. Brown & Christie.
