Moderate bumping and chipping to both spines. Gilt lettering on spine faded but still visible. Moderate scuffing and staining to all boards. Moderate staining and foxing to all edges of texblock. Volume 2 covers land birds. Green cloth boards are worn and frayed at all edges and corners. Text is clean. Bindings are a bitt wobbly but intact. Gift inscription on endpapers. Library pockets and cards affixed to backs. Fantastic full color page illustrations. Good tight bindings .

Two volumes with additional book plates. Volume 1 (1910) and 2 (1914) in hardcover with green cloth. Some scuffing to boards and small defect on front cover of Vol 1 (see picture). Some minor staining on the front and end papers with prior owner incriptions and stamp, "compliments of Abraham J. Palmer 27th District." Volume 1 has a few pages with leaves (flora) present and associated staining - not sure of the intent, but these may be native flora to the bird described on these pages. Occasional pages have some staining throughout; however, bindings are tight and no loose pages are apparent. The book of (loose) plates, dated 1925, is in good condition; the plates are bright and colorful, but have some yellowing and folds near the edges of some. Most (if not all) of the plates are present.
