Albuquerque, NM: University of New Mexico Press, 1950. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. Gustave Baumann. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. Price has been clipped from the front flap. DJ shows fading and soiling along with edge wear and tears. Brown cloth boards decorated on front and spine. Boards are clean. Binding tight, no page issues noted. A rather unique copy as the half title page bears two signatures: at the bottom of the page it is signed by (Reverend) Austin F. Schildwachter, along with a symbol of a cross. The second signature, located near the center of the page, is signed by Whittaker Chambers. Mr. Chambers was an American writer/ editor and former Communist spy who in 1948 testified about Communist espionage. No other handwriting noted in the book. Pages are lightly toned with some mild soiling along the edges.
