All surfaces heavily tanned, particularly spine. Gilt lettering to spine is slightly dulled. Boards are slightly bowed.

Moderate thumb marking, foxing and tanning to pages and plates. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Light cracking, creasing and staining to gutters; some looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean.

Charmingly illustrated and comprehensive decriptions of English wildflowers by Frederick Edward Hulme (1841 - 1909), artist, botanist, teacher, natural historian and Fellow of the Linnean Society. Each flower is painstakingly illustrated in colour by Hulme and described in detail, including its habitat and medicinal use.
