Mixed printings ('Spy' and 'Live Twice' are first printings). Cheap paper toned as expected, discreet library label to 'Dr. No', Goldfinger is ex-library with laminated covers, all others are free from names or stamps, some with occasional reading/spine creases, overall very good to fine. Publisher's metallic-effect hardcovers, cream/pale yellow endpapers, without dust-wrapper as issued. Page edges a little toned, binding a little handled spine ends pushed. Near fine. One of two bindings used for this edition. Rather uncommon. Bibliographer Jon Gilbert's copy (pencil ownership within). His encyclopaedic guide to the works of Ian Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography. Gilbert E6a(2).

London: Pan Books, 1962-3. [Spy thrillers] COMPLETE AS ISSUED. 8 volumes [all that were issued in this series], octavo (16 x 10 x 9cm). A vintage set of the 'Great Pan' paperbacks with the Yellow Band covers (Dr. No technically a white band), and Pan's '007' and bullets logo. Various early printings ('For Your Eyes Only' is a FIRST PRINTING). Colour-illustrated cover designs, each volume correctly priced at 2/6 (all UK copies- unpriced export issues were also produced). Toning to cheap paperstock as expected, faint book shop stamp to 'Live & Let Die', ink initials to 'Goldfinger' no owner names or book shop stamps, spines rolled and rubbed as expected; generally very good.

New York, NY: Signet Books / NAL., 1960s-80s. [Spy Fiction] Fourteen volumes. Octavos (18 x 11 x 17cm). Publisher's colour illustrated softcovers, all edges tinted red. A vintage set of Signet paperbacks in the popular 'D' series edition with uniform vignette cover artwork and bold 'A James Bond Thriller' lettering. The final three titles are FIRST PRINTINGS, designated 'P' series (not issued as 'D' series). Expected toning to cheap paper stock. A used set with some signs of reading and handling, some creases/soiling, ink ownership to For Your Eyes Only' and 'Thunderball', discreet ink price '10p' to 'Goldfinger'. Shows well as a set. London: Pan Books, [and] Triad / Granada, [and] Coronet. 1963-1992. [James Bond Novels] COMPLETE FILM TIE-IN SERIES in the standard paperback format. 13 volumes. Octavo (19 x 11 x 19cm), each in the publisher's soft covers printed with a design celebrating the recent filming of the title. Some browning/toning to the cheap paperstock as expected. Some toning/sunning to spines, reading creases to same, light rubbing in places, owner name to 'Octopussy', ink stamps to 'Golden Gun' and 'The Living Daylights', small area of tip-ex to inside cover of 'Diamonds', remainder free from markings. A very good set, complete in this format; a further Fleming-Bond film tie-in would be issued by Penguin books for 'Casino Royale' (2006), but this was part of the larger-sized 'Modern Classics' series; the film tie-ins for The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker were not written by Fleming, and no UK tie-in was produced for A View To A Kill. Mixed printings, includes five first impressions (Dr No, Goldfinger, For Your Eyes Only, Thunderball and Octopussy. No ink names or writing, pages a little toned as expected, light handling. A crisp, near fine set. From the comprehensive archive assembled by Jon Gilbert (pencil signature within). Strips written by Ian Fleming, Henry Gammidge, Anthony Hern and Jim Lawrence, illustrated by John McLusky and Yaroslav Horak. Mixed printings. With introductions by Roger Moore, Eunice Gayson, Shirley Eaton, George Lazenby, Lucy Fleming, Maud Adams and Caroline Munro. Fine throughout. This group represents the complete comic-strip adaptations of Ian Fleming's James Bond stories, which were serialised in the Daily Express from 1958-1968 (series 1-3). After Fleming's original texts were exhausted the third series continued, penned by others from 1969-76. Series 4 appeared in The Sunday Express in 1977, and Series 5 was published in the Daily Star from 1981-3. From the significant Ian Fleming collection of Martin Schøyen (b.1940).
