Description:
New York: George Munro's Sons, Publishers Book. Good. Hardcover. 1st thus.. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. No date (circa 1870). An uncommon edition of the third volume of Cooper's Littlepage Manuscripts (following 'Satanstoe' and 'The Chainbearer'), which dealt with the 1839-45 revolt of New York land tenants, during which they proclaimed independence from something called the manor system, ultimately achieving significant land reform. Brown pebbled buckram, gilt decoration/spine lettering, 328 pages. Some spotting/soil to covers, moderate wear to corners/spine ends, thin, difficult-to-see 2" slit to middle of right spine edge (see arrows on first scan), hinges mainly split (but still holding pretty firmly), pencil scribbles to pastedowns/end papers, ink signature to front pastedown, dampstaining along bottom edges, pages significantly tanned, edge soil, general wear..
