New York, NY: Harper & Brothers, 1845. First Edition. Hardcover. Acceptable. Harper, 1845. First editon Volume II ONLY. Illustrated with 13 engravings and one folding map at frontispiece. Text, plates and map heavily foxed. The engravings themselves are in quite good condition, but borders and rear are foxed. Light silverfishing to spine, wear at head and heel. Acceptable. Observations on Christian sites and histories as well as the many sects, esoteric and historic particuarly such as the Druses, Dervishes and many others, with extensive travels in Constantinople, Turkey and throughout the Levant.

Based on the author's extensive travels in the region. Tobler p. 168. Blackmer Catalogue 561: "Durbin was a Methodist preacher and missionary of some renown." The first edition was 1845. The plates are from drawings by Bartlett, Allom, Bernatz, Fitzen, Roberts. There is a double-page plan of Jerusalem. A picture of this book is available on request by email.

Bound in original publisher's cloth, blind-stamped on both boards. Title stamped in gilt letters on spine. Covers somewhat stained, continued as a damp mark on the fore-edge of volume one (diminishing after first 15 leaves). Crown and heel of volume one torn and repaired. Minor blemishes very widely scattered in text. Text block sound, clean and entire. Good to very good condition overall.
