London. Very Good+ with no dust jacket. 1862. Hardcover. Oversized full pebbled leather decorated in gilt, gilt dentelles, marbled endpages. Presumed original binding. Gauffered gilt edges. Rubbing to the joints and edges. Contents about fine but for very minor occasional fingerprints. Illuminated psalter printed on heavy stock in Gothic revival style. Circa 1862.; Folio 13" - 23" tall .

[London: Published by Day & Son, 1861. Hardcover. Very Good. Large folio (12 ½" x 17"). [4], 100 chromolithographic illuminated pages. Decorative blind embossed leather boards, re-backed with parts of the original spine laid down, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Owner's name and address in ink on front fly leaf. The endleaves are lightly toned with scattered foxing, fore-edge of front fly is chipped, the first three tissue guards are lightly foxed with a few small tears, very good. A scarce copy of Owen Jones's beautiful color illuminated Victoria Psalter in the original deeply embossed leather Relievo binding. *OCLC* locates only one copy in Wales.

London: [Day & Son], 1861. A bit of wear to the spine with minor repair to crown and foot, and some minor finger soiling in the margins, still an uncommonly bright copy, and quite rare in this state. Folio (17"), (vi), XIII. Illustrated by Owen Jones with 17 full-page chromolithographs. Bound in full pebbled plum cloth over beveled boards, the covers with embossed designs, the upper cover with gilt title and decorations inset and surrounded by ornate gilt frame. This is the precursor to and became the fist part of Jones' Victoria Psalter. "Color in blues, reds, white, and gold making a sumptuous effect. Owen Jones regarded this work [The Victoria Psalter] as his masterpiece, and is considered one of the highlights of Victorian color printing." Ray. 230; McLean. Victorian Book Design p. 129.
