He designed the Lead-High-Low wedge formation used effectively in Europe to eliminate military targets.He also developed the bombing that leveled Japan.He helped develop the organization of the new Air Force and was commander of the Strategic Air Command. His accounts of the war are insightful and the story of making of the modern air force is fascinating.
