UK, 1866. First Edition . Paper. Good. 48mo - over 3 - 4" tall. An Original Letter Handwritten and Signed by Opera Singer Jenny Lind-Goldschmidt to Sir Frederick Halliday. Dated 1866. A letter discussing work at the Bengall College. Johanna Maria Lind 1820-1887 was a Swedish opera singer, often called the "Swedish Nightingale". One of the most highly regarded singers of the 19th century, she performed in soprano roles in opera in Sweden and across Europe, and undertook an extraordinarily popular concert tour of the United States beginning in 1850. She was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music from 1840. Sir Frederick James Halliday 1806-1901 was a British civil servant and the first Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal. Size is 175mm x 110mm. Condition is good. Light folding crease. Cut repaired to rear page. More images can be taken upon request. Ref17705
