First edition, near fine, oversized (11 by 13 inches) blue cloth hardcover shows bumping to top corners and some other mild trace wear, in near fine dust jacket (price at flap) that shows touch of soil and some mild wrinkling to rear panel. 380 pages nicely illustrated in both black & white and color with illustrated end papers. Still a nice looking copy of this work that "..is a truly sumptuous monument to a craftsmanship which has flourished since medieval times.

However, the tape has left a brown discoloration on the inside of the dustwrapper about 1/4" wide along the edges. Good. Inscribed on first fly page by the author and signed, again, by the author on the title page. This version was printed in Japan in 1969. Blue cover with gold gilt lettering. Apart from inscription and signature, all pages are free of marks or creasing and are crisp and clean. Faint tanning is present to edge of pages. Cover is in crisp, clean condition with almost no signs of wear. Dust jacket is in acceptable to good condition, with natural age tanning, edge wear, a two inch tear and one heavy crease(4 inches), and two smaller tears(less than an inch) along edge; However, jacket is still in solid condition and is efficiently protecting the book.
