Worn copy showing soiled covers and dulled lettering, dulled text block edges. A few ragged fore-edges toward front where carelessly opened. xiii,326 pp., front and rear endsheet maps, 7 b&w plates. Inscribed by author on title page, though in a very unsteady hand, a fairly strong signature with fading to the inscription itself, as if somebody at one point attempted removal. Endsheets show the Metz-Commercy Sheet with the daily front line positions of the First Army A. E. F. during the St. Mihiel Offensive, Sept. 12-14, 1918..
