Mild foxing or smudge on title page, otherwise a nice clean copy of an exceptionally charming edition. Perl's cartoon illustrations suit the silliness of Milne's fairytale world. We are particularly in love with her Countess Belvane on the cover, but everyone adores Belvane (except perhaps the Princess Hyacinth). Find out what happens when Strong Notes are written, kings go to war disguised as swineherds, and a Prince is turned into something fluffy.

The first edition published in 1917 was illustrated by H.M. Brock and this second edition on offer here was re-illustrated by Charles Robinson.
There is an owner's signature on the fixed front endpaper and half-title page. Cloth fingered and rubbed at external hinges; the half title leaf is a little foxed.

The book itself shows slight darkening and extremely light discoloration of the text-block edges, otherwise remains Fine/As New. The dust jacket shows the spine lightly toned, extremities with slight shelf rubbing and a few very short closed tears, otherwise is not price-clipped remaining bright, colorful, and distinct. With color frontis and many line drawings by Charles Robison. Faint wear to head of spine, a touch of separation between frontis and title page, eelse fine, no previous owner's marks.

Very near Fine/very good. 269pp, with text illustrations in line, a colour frontis, and pictorial endpapers. Extremely bright and fresh throughout. The original owner's home-made bookmark was found at p256-7, where it has left a thin line down the gutter, and a faint mark on the page. No other marks. In the original pictorial binding of pale blue cloth, blocked in black and gold, spine titled in gilt: extremely bright and fresh, corners sharp, head of spine faintly blunted. In the protected pictorial dust jacket: this has a 1cm chip to the head of the spine, and small scuffs with loss at each corner. The upper panel is bright, the spine slightly sunned, and the lower (white) panel shows some soiling: the flaps are plain white.
