Pieter Pauw (or Paaw) (1564-1617), "was born in Amsterdam, and, like Platter, had studied with Fabrici at Padua. He was appointed Professor of Anatomy and Botany at Leiden, and was responsible for the building of its anatomy theatre. His special interest was in osteology.
