Description:
Manitoba: Derksen Printers Ltd., 1995. 256 Quarto. Original black cloth with gilt lettering on the front cover and spine. A tight, clean copy. Maps on the end papers. Photographs and maps throughout. Inscription to aircraft builder Clark Seaborn in blue ink on the half title. A laid in note congratulating Seaborn on the restoration of a CF-AMM from the authour is included. At its peak, there were 20 producing gold mines in and around Red Lake, Ontario. By 1995, there were only two. Parrott, who lived and worked in those mines for most of his life, has developed a history of them, exploring how Red Lake was named, its early relationship to the fur trade, the discovery of gold in 1897 and silver in 1922, and the ups and downs of a gold rush. Maps and many photographs throughout. 1995
