Corners of book and jacket bumped; jacket a little worn at ends of spine panel and with a tiny tear at head of rear panel and a minuscule chip to upper corner of front panel; still a nice, bright copy. FIRST EDITION. PRESENTATION INSCRIPTION SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, on the verso of the frontispiece. It reads: "To Eleanor Schoberlin -- This, the oldest love tale that has come down to us in our Western literatures (for of Troy's Helen we know only the name, of her love-story nothing) a tale burning with the sun of the desert Mâqedâ crossed to find the King of her Heart, before the oldest tomb was hewn in rose-red Petra.
