New York: Random House, 1947. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/very good. Stated first printing of the great boxing novel by the author of What Makes Sammy Run? Paper a bit age toned else this is a solid clean very good copy in lightly frayed dustwrapper with original $3.00 price to the dustwrapper flap. A couple of small stains to rear panel. Nicely INSCRIBED by the author on the title page. Also, laid into this copy is a small booklet which announces the memorial service for Schulberg which took place at the New York Society for Ethical Culture on September 12, 2009 and featured such emminent speakers and artists as Bill Gallo, Ivan Dee, Gene Kilroy, Nick Beck, Quincy Troupe and Jon Faddis among others. Source for the film of the same name.
