Harper & Brothers, 1917; "Published February 1917" stated, with publisher's code "B-R"; 327pp.; missing the scarce dust jacket, though the portion from the lower right of the front panel, perhaps the most relevant piece of the jacket, has been pasted on to the front end page; binding remains square, sturdy, and sound; text is very good throughout; minor wear at corners of dark olive green cloth boards, some rubbed spots in gilt title box on front board, gilt titling on backstrip dulled but otherwise clear and fully legible. Harper & Brothers, 1917; "Published February 1917" stated, with publisher's code "B-R"; 327pp. Dark olive green cloth boards, gilt title panel on front board, is lightly rubbed. Corners lightly bumped. Gilt title on spine is bright. Contemporary former owner signature (Jessie E. Scott) on front endpaper dated August 1917. The Job is an early work by American novelist Sinclair Lewis about women workers. It is considered an early declaration of the rights of working women. The novel was published before Lewis achieved any significant fame and provides insights on working women as well as the unique nature (for the time) of having a woman as the lead character.
