Dial Press. New York. 1941. Very good green boards with black lettering and drawing of "Moreover" on front. Price clipped jacket is likewise very good with light shelf wear and some age toning to interior of jacket flaps. Stated as First Printing on copyright page.James Street (1903-1954) worked as a journalist before deciding to become a Baptist minister. Unhappy with the job he quit and went back to journalism. He wrote a short story that was published by Cosmopolitan magazine that was later turned into a hit movie (Nothing Sacred) by David Selznick. A Broadway musical (Hazel Flagg) followed, then another short story was turned into a movie (Living It Up) starring Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. He later went on to write books about boys and dogs.

Illustrated dust jacket with "$2.00" price present. Green boards stamped in black. Dust jacket toned along edges and spine with chip to center of front panel along spine; general rubbing. Boards lightly shelfworn; spine ends nudged; corners slightly bowed. Binding is sound. Bookseller ticket to rear pastedown but interior otherwise unmarked. Originally published as a short story in the Saturday Evening Post in 1939, "The Biscuit Eater" was made into a film in 1940, published in book form the year following (this edition) and also remade into another film in 1972.
