Description:
NSW, Australia: Butterfly Books, 1991. William Hart-Smith (1911 -1990) English born New Zealand/Australian poet. His family moved to New Zealand in 1924. In 1936 he emigrated to Australia, working in commercial radio, and then the Australian Broadcasting Commission. Hart-Smith was connected with the Jindyworobak Movement which look to local culture rather than looking back to English influences. Hart-Smith returned to New Zealand in 1946 and worked in adult education returning to Australia in the 1960s. CONDITION Red wraps, hand corrected to forward on the location of his death being Orewa. Pp xxiv [2] 425 with b/w photo plates. Apart from the correction it appear unread with slightest fading to spine.. First Edition. Soft Cover. Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
