New York: Parke-Bernet Galleries, 1968. First edition. stapled wrappers. Fair. photogravure . Small quarto, pp. 33-49 only (just the pages on the Indians), in original wrappers. This is the Cigar Store Indian collection of Edwin P. S. Newman. Most of his examples -including a Pair of Indians - have estimated dates of origin pre-20th century. The collection even includes a three foot high figure of an Itinerant Irishman! Newman inherited these from his uncle, Francis D. Shoemaker, who collected them from 1900-1930s. Note: the pages for the listings of lots 1-175 have been excised.
