Description:
Upper Saddle River, NJ Prentice Hall, 1998. Paperback Second Edition. Second Edition. Fine in Wraps: binding square and secure; text clean. Virtually 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. 319pp. Academic Press Paperback. I had to read Thinking for one of my Critical Thinking courses and this was the very first time that I actually enjoyed a required textbook! It had awesome ideas on language and thought, using your senses while writing and speaking, and finally the section which helped me was "Prep-Creation". Prepcreation simply means brainsorming ideas and possible topics, using prepositions between two or more of those ideas, to come up with a stream of thought. This exercise actually helped me to construct a complete and thoughtful article and I became Book Reviewer of the week. It was exciting to actually apply what I learned from Kirby & Goodpaster. I do hope they write more helpful texts like this one!

The interviews are wonderful and Miller is not only a unique stage director for theater and opera but a fine interviewer as well. The Geertz interview is worth the price of the book. The other interviews are essential reading for people interested in Miller's unique views on theater and life. I've used it for years in my teaching and my study of character. Each of the interviews are interesting and unique...as unique as Miller's view of the works for the stage have been over the years.… Read More
