The photos of this March on Washigngton and the Capitol should be compared to the January 6th, 2021 insurrection.

Magazine. 72p., 8.5x11 inches, content-rich program booklet with activist biographies, etc., published by Atlanta activists for the Washington event (ads show national rather than regional focus), pages lightly and evenly toned, else very good booklet in stapled decorative white wraps.

Washington DC: Program Guide Project of the Comittee for the March on Washington, Inc, 1993. Very good +. 10 ¾" x 8". Stapled wrappers. pp. 96. Very good plus with light wear and light toning at extremities. This is the program guide for the 1993 March. Its first page is a strongly worded reflection of the LGBTQ community as well as its demands, and stating that "every out lesbian, gay, and bi is a hero." It contains a number of full page ads with position statements, a guide to issues that needed to pushed in Congress and a step-by-step guide on how attendees could help the cause. Several pages are devoted to short biographies of all the rally speakers, and around 30 pages are used to detail an hour by hour description of all the different events. Interspersed throughout are dozens of advertisements, a few maps and a short history of the event. Surprisingly scarce with OCLC locating eight institutions and none in the trade as of October 2019.

Outer sleeve near fine with some corner wear; inner sleeve near fine with hints of toning at extremities; record fine. This is a vinyl record documenting the first-ever National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights which occurred October 14, 1979 and the "Gay Freedom Train" which led up to the march. Until this event, most LGBTQ+ activism was performed at the state and local level. Organizers of the march believed that even local rights could only be furthered through national unity. The first attempt at a national march was in 1973 and ultimately failed due to resistance from a number of national and local LGBTQ+ organizations.
