Description:
Very Good. Kept by tweener Betty Louise McCurdy (1918-2006) who apparently lived in the Mt. Lebanon neighborhood of Pittsburgh's South Hills all her life. Approximately 60 postcards and 60 snapshots, plus some memorabilia pasted in, including a flyer for the Convict Ship at Atlantic City, two programs from the Roxy movie theatre in NYC, a 9 x 5 rectangle of white birch bark cut from a fallen tree along the Prospect Mountain trail, dinner menu from the steamer Horicon on Lake George, official program from the Outdoor Swimming Championships at Bemus Point, NY, 1930. Some lovely photos of the scenery, plus of Betty herself as a twelve year old. Also a class photo from Mt. Lebanon Junior Highschool, and the deed to her family's Mt. Lebanon home, from 1921.

Berlin: Verlag Ross/Film-Sterne, 1920. Softcover. vg- to near fine. Oblong octavo. 8x11". String-tied brown paper wrappers with decorative black silhouette motif on the front cover. This photo-album contains 27 photo-postcards of American actress and filmmaker Fern Andra (1893-1974), who was among the leading silent film stars in Germany during the 1910s and 20s. These days she is perhaps best known for having starred in Robert Wiene's 1920 horror film "Genuine: The Tragedy of a Vampire", considered a follow-up to his groundbreaking "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari". By 1928 she moved to the UK and then back to the United States. By 1930 she had retired from acting and filmmaking. Most of the cards are printed in sepia-toned photogravure, and the last two are actual silver gelatin photographic prints.… Read More
