Vintage First Edition pop-up book from 1953, in which Santa is summoned to Mother Goose Land for Christmas. Condition is only Fair: most of the pop-ups are intact & work correctly, though all have edgewear, creases, etc. There was a bag of sugar candy that is missing. Folded napkin that turns into a toy parachute is intact, as are the blackbirds popping out of the pie, the pig in the wheelbarrow (no sqeaker), the book of Mother Goose rhymes inside the back cover, & the first large pop-up featuring Santa & his reindeer sleigh. Generally clean, all pages intact, but beginning to tear away at bottom of the spiral binding. Former owner's name filled in on gift box on first page; NO other writing/underlining/highlighting/coloring. All in all, a decent copy oif a scarce collectible pop-up book! Very well-kept copy of this book of pop-ups and little extras, such as a plastic spoon, opening flaps, etc., missing only the band-aid and candy. Pictorial softcover with metal spiral spine, original presentation box. Little wear, all pop-ups etc. operational, no names or other markings. The box has two corners of the bottom portion split and a few edge splits to the top cover, a portion of the the lower flap missing, cover illustrated intact and in very good condition.. First Edition. Soft Cover. Very Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

Featuring 4 nice pop-ups and a 3-dimensional piglet head that sticks out through a hole in the page (lacks plastic spoon, parachute and candy). The text is in narrative form, but mounted inside rear wrapper is a book that includes the actual rhymes. 10.25'' x 8.5''. Original spiral bound stiff wrappers. Brightly illustrated in color on every page. Loose at few spirals.
