Landscape quarto red cloth spined chromolith boards (slightly marked/edges shelf worn but cover illustration bright) 127pp printed one side of leaf only but pagination includes the versos. Probably recased - the book is too large and heavy for the covers and this format often gives problems. Possibly newer endpapers but now neat, first text page has some loss of a few letters where page holed and half title has small corner loss. Other edge tears and one long tear (repaired on the blank side of illustration with archival white paper tape), some other repairs but no loss and not affecting the chromoliths. One endpaper and one other leaf creased and a few finger marks etc. *Story of a Japanese doll who longs to see the world. Chromoliths (8 incl.covers) + 8 red/black large illustrations of puppy & children by Frances Brundage.. 266x192mm pictorial card covers (some edge-chips and 1cm corner loss not affecting printed area to cover & 1x3.5cm loss to Lower cover just touching black line frame/name M Westcott on cover) [14]pp. Some splitting to spine but no child coloring, no tears lovely and clean. *Nicely illustrated puppy dog story.

Small octavo grey cloth red lettered to cover & spine(tips rubbed & turned some spots rubbing to cover) 152pp fly leaf cut away but half title and title present. Internally very clean, crisp and tight. *Supporters of the wrong side after Culloden the brother & sister try to escape to America but are sold off as indentured servants at all times worried that they will be recognized as runaways. Reunited with their elder brother they decide to make a new start in America.

Large octavo yellow pictorial boards (damage to hinges for 2" and other side less than 1"/some other small breaks to hinge but sound and tight) (18pp) Circle (0.7") to margin of first page a few other signs of use but aside from a few creases to last pop-up all work crisply and well. Planes are propeller British European Airways and ships refer to wartime damage to docks (not in MONTANARO).

Rouen: Megard & Co 1st first edition (see below), 1855. Hardcover. Good. Frontispiece . Duodecimo cartonnage Romantique embossed paper over boards with shaped diecut insert of chromolith illustration (edges quite worn/some tearout around the chromolith embossed frame/spine tips worn) 168pp pencil inscription on pastedown & remains of wax seals to same. Belongs to the series Bibliotheque Morale de la Jeunesse sadly in a well worn binding (cf. Gumuchian 1080 calling the 1858 printing the First edition even though it is also published by Megard. Also in a cartonage romantique but with a different chromolith).

Unpaginated but 1" thick. Before successful climb of Everest. Contains stories of Plastic Man and 2 of Doll Man + 2 Arazona Raines storiees etc. Marginal inscription & ownership box filled in. Corners worn.
