Thick 4to, 3/4 brown leather, marbled boards. 1056 pp. Willis moved from the east coast to Sacramento county in 1871, where he engaged in farming near Elk Grove, and teaching, until 1892. He then became a member of the editorial staff of the Record-Union, and continued the association for thirteen years. In 1879 he was tendered an appointment on the county board of education, of which he remained a member for twenty-three years. CONDITION: FAIR. A clean, tight copy internally. Covers well worn with substantial rubbing to edges, corners, and spine. Front board nearly detached. Owner's inked and penciled names on front pastedown and title page.
