Explains the rules to be observed by yo ung anglers, the choice and preparation of rods and lines, float and fly fishing, the laws and customs of angling, and related su bjects. [Shirley's name is omitted; it appeared only on the firs t edition of 1784] Frontispiece portrait of John Kirby, "the cel ebrated fisherman," who was keeper of Newgate. Condition: Fair - - the text block is good overall; pages toned but no foxing; titl e page beginning to separate but still intact. The major flaw is that the covers are faded at extremities and spine, upper corners rubbed, and front board detached. Bookplate of Edwin F. Snow. .
