Original quarter vellum and blue paper boards, gilt title to spine. Deckle d edges with some browning to edges, plus small amount of age ton ing on occasional pages. Otherwise a fine copy; toning to end pap ers; light damp-stain to front end papers not affecting text beyo nd; light discoloration at bottom of spine. Internally clean, tig ht, and essentially flawless. In good paper d/w with several edge nicks and damp-stain upper front right and across lower back thi rd; not affecting the book itself. .

This is the last part of the Instauratio Magna published in English in Ba con's lifetime. With the engraved bookplate of Algernon Cappell, 2d Earl of Essex, dated 1701. Cappell held the office of Gentlem an of the Bedchamber to King William III between 1691 and 1702.
