Frans Masereel's Bilder-Romane. Originally published in 1920 in French, first German publication was Kurt Wolff in 1922 and this is the first printing of the Popular Edition series.
Masereel was a major influence on Lynd Ward. He was a Flemish painter and woodcut artist, a Pacifist, Socialist and exile from Belgium.
