Kings Point: United States Merchant Marine Academy, 1969. Hardcover. 266, 54p.[ads], glossy paperstock throughout with b&w and color photography, hardbound in massive 12.3x9.5 inch blue boards over a silver spine. No ownership or other marks, faintests signs of any handling or age, near-fine.

Ankara: The Ministry of Press, Broadcasting and Tourism, 1960. Pamphlet. [70]p., staplebound pamphlet in 7.5x5 inch decorated wraps, texts in Turkish, English, German, Italian, Arabic (cursive) and French; texts and photos printed on glazed paperstock throughout, mild signs of handling and age but perfectly clean, sound and unmarked: a very good copy.

Grimma, Germany: Frdr. Bode, 1945. Staplebound. 16p. staplebound booklet, 7.5x10.5 inches, minor handling wear and soil. Illustrated with several black and white photos showing the infantry's progress during the war. Final page shows crowd of Germans surrendering to avoid the Soviet advance from the other side. "It was hard to believe that the same men who marched so docilely were the ones who such a short time ago reduced most of Europe to slavery and had become synonymous with savagery and destruction. No sympathy was given these 'Supermen' in their final degradation." Frank Mankiewicz, one of the assistants to the author, became a prominent journalist, serving as president of National Public Radio from 1977 to 1983.

San Francisco: SFBA GLHS, no date. Photograph. 8x10 inch b&w glossy photo, photographer uncredited, taken in 1963 (later printing of the photo) captioned with a brief bio. From the archives at the Society and used by Leigh Rutledge in one of his books.

Berkeley: the newspaper, 1992. Three issues of the tabloid-format newspaper, pages toned, otherwise only light handling wear. All three separately published issues of the publication produced by military resisters to the Persian Gulf war. A final "issue" was published as a section of StormWarning!, no. 23 (July 1992).

Washington DC: GPO, 1984. Pamphlet. Senate Appropriations Report runs 15p., is staple-fastened in white self-wraps, outer leaves are slightly toned round the margins, while the Press Release is a single page of text, about 200 words, folded transversely once; it encloses a laid-in envelope (scissored - printed face only) with the Senate return address and Barry Goldwater's franking signature in the plate. We found the Release nestled into the Report and have assumed it belonged. The two items together as associated by general subject matter and by date of issue. 98th Congress, 2nd session, Senate. Report 98-481.

Oakland: PM Press, 2011. Paperback. xiv+234p., pictorial wraps, color photo section, new, signed by both Whitman-Bradleys. Voices from the Courage to Resist Audio Project.

New York: Birch Lane Press, 1995. Hardcover. xvii, 302p. + 8p. photos, forewords, preface, glossy b&w photo section, very good first edition, first printing stated in quarter-cloth boards and unclipped dj.

Paris: RITA, [196-]. Newsletter. 8x10.75 inch sheet printed both sides, fold-creased. Advice for US soldiers in Europe thinking of deserting or otherwise resisting the war in Vietnam. Includes a photo of GI resister Dick Perrin being interviewed by Stokely Carmichael. The contact address is Jean Paul Sartre, BP 130, Paris 14, France (he allowed his PO box to be used by the organization and had his secretary deliver the incoming letters to the activists who published the newsletter).

Boulder CO: Paladin Press, 1990. vii, 39p., 5.5x8.5 inches, line illustrations in the text, staplebound plain printed booklet, a fine copy.

Magazine. 64p., 8x11 inches, photos, ads, news, columns, events, resources, services, entertainment reviews, very good glossy LGBT magazine in stapled pictorial wraps, signed on cover by Eric Alva next to his cover photo. Alva was the first casualty in the Iraq War, a highly-decorated gay Marine who fought to end "Don't ask, don't tell" Signed on cover by the hero.

San Mateo: Liberation Publications, 1975. Newspaper. 48p., and 24p. second section [Trader Dick] folded tabloid newspaper, mild toning else very good on newsprint. Cover stories: IRS Probing Church Loopholes. Christopher Street: Saying Goodbye to a Longtime Love. Divine Throws 'Outrageous' Party. Trader Dick section of personals and more!

Seattle: KC & Associates, 1990. Paperback. Unpaginated or variously paginated xeroxed documents in facsimile plus transcripts keyboard-set, copyshop binding ("velo," but no acetate cover leaf), perhaps two hundred single-side standard leaves under professionally-printed cover leaf. Slight handling soil, a very good copy. Referred to within as third part of a "white paper" on the Gulf War, following separate installments v.I ("Hussein, Oil, CPI, Drug War...") and v.II ("Hussein's Mythical Nukes..and Iraq's Military Power"). Third part only. Largely an indictment of George Herbert Walker Bush in and out of the presidential warmonger role, materials from public journalism and private interviews, unclassified documents, weapons-provider ads and so forth.

Sarajevo: Institute for the Research of Crimes Against Humanity and International Law, 2005. Hardcover. 2 volumes, a total of 1473 pages, ribbon bookmarks bound in, top corner of pages 863 to 879 bumped and wrinkled, else very good condition. Sets out to "prove that Serbia and Montenegro...had carried out an agression against the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, [and] that they have led an unprovoked war against it"-Foreward.

San Francisco: Air War Action Committee, 1972. Pamphlet. 6p., stapled pictorial wraps, minor creasing else very good condition, 7x8.5 inches, illustrated with photos and drawings. Argues that the Vietnam War is detroying the people and culture of Southeast Asia while absorbing billions of dollars that could be used to fight poverty and other problems in the US.

Milano / Parigi: Editore Eoardo Sonzogno, 1870. 17x12 inches, a giant hardbound in shaken condition, plates look to be complete with only two margins damaged, description below. 162p., indice. Illustrated with numerous b&w lithographs: ten doublespread battle scemes, three doublespread maps (one line map, two view-maps), many single-page views (not all plates show battle), and way way too many portraits. A folio in very worn marbled boards, narrow vellum spine (true vellum; may be an old restoration to head, we're unsure), endsheets are original and though somewhat dirty are intact, gutters look weak but no threads showing. No leaves are at risk of detachment. We have paged through the book and the only repulsive flaw is that a small corner of mildew has settled in the terminal dozen or so leaves, triangular areas about 2x3 inches. We've wiped away much of this mildew. The doublespread plate at 84/5 is lacking a large corner but graphic unaffected, the fullpage at p52 has a marginal tear that does… Read More

Hardcover. xvi, 563p. plus appended material and indices; wood- or steel-engraved vignette illustrations throughout (well-reproduced), casebound in 9.5x6.5 inch textured cloth boards lettered gilt and paneled in blind. A handled copy with edgewear and slight fray, a penciled ownership, hinges remain good, spine titling legible, textblock leaves mildly toned but cleanly and unmarked, a good copy.
