Cleveland OH: Kilroy Harris Traveltalks, 1926. Hardcover. 88p., presswork on glazed alkaline paperstock throughout featuring a doublespread map (where to graze sheep, where cattle, where to plant wheat) centerfold, and many b&w site and portrait photos. Hardbound in 9x6 inch dark blue cloth boards gilt, a very good copy: sturdy and flat, top and tail rims show a little color-loss, otherwise absolutely sound, clean, and free of any markings besides an authorial inscription signed and dated 1932. Capt. Kilroy published several other books on down-under, all issued in the US, all derived from US radio and live public lectures. The item in hand is likewise addressed to Americans, and to Canadians; in-text and in the appended ads, steamship passage is urged.

Wellington: W.A.G. Skinner, Government Printer, 1910. map. Folio leaves of glazed alkaline paper (still bright-white, 9.5x24 inches) printed, folded and stapled to make eight triple-column pages of text that when folded is 9.5x4 inches. Find numerous b&w photos reasonably well-reproduced amidst pretty printers' ornaments, while the outer layer is a triptych in colors, a panel each to the mountains, lakes and coastal inlets. Also find two 9x6.5 inch maps, one a detailed rendering of the South Island, the other a drawn topographical map with onlay color showing the hiking trails. External fold-edges are mildly abraded, no other problems (even the staples are clean), a very good copy.

Issues present are Oct., Nov. 1963; June, July, Aug. 1964; Jan/Feb., June, July, Aug, Sept, Dec. 1965; Jan/Feb, May 1966; July, Aug., Oct., November 1974; Jan/Feb., March, April, May, June, July, Sept., Oct., Nov. 1975; March 1976; July, Aug., Sept., Oct., Nov., Dec. 1978, and Jan/Feb. 1979. These issues reflect the CPNZ's decision to side with China in the Sino-Soviet split (the first "official" First World communist party to do so), coverage of both domestic and international events, anti-Revisionist polemics, and the later break with China after Mao's death, in favor of Albania.
