About This Item
Roanoke Rapids, NC: Palmetto Press, 1913. Paperback. 129p. paperback, covers edge-chipped, the fragile paper partly faded. Interior pages are on better stock, though first and last several pages have some edgewear. Chaloner was famous at the time for having been involuntarily confined to an insane asylum by his wealthy family; when his brother later lost significant property to a woman he had briefly married, Chaloner wired him to ask "Who's looney now?" The line instantly entered popular culture. This is a collection of sonnets originally published in 1907. This edition, however, contains a lengthy appendix reprinting correspondence and critical assessments the author had received after the book's first appearance.
