"The Foundry men suffer silicosis, flesh burns, speed up, work in bad air and terrific heat, and have to use dirty toilets. If our clothes rot in 3 days, what about our lungs and skin.

Keene, CA: United Farmworkers, 1974. Newspaper. 20p. tabloid format newspaper, horizontal fold, evenly toned, light handling wear; illustrated with black and white photos. Much coverage of accidents involving buses transporting farmworkers, including one in Blythe that killed 19.

Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 2001. 356p., illustrated with chapter-divider b&w photos, a later printing of the hardbound issue in clothbacked boards and glossy dust jacket. A fine clean copy. From p.160: "Today, roughly two-thirds of the workers at the beef plant in Greeley cannot speak English. Most of them are Mexican immigrants who live in places like the River Park Mobile Court, a collection of battered old trailers a quarter-mile down the road from the slaughterhouse.." --find a three or four page section on the Hispanic ("Latino," in author's index) component of fastfood workforce, plus other scattered references.

Mild handling, all four corner-tips slightly turned, one entry ("Hormone Disruption by Chemicals") marked in handwritten ballpoint (of special interest), the word "flyers" in holograph on otherwise blank verso, an attractive item in reasonably good condition. "For full course descriptions, visit UOTC.org .. University of the Commons is dedicated to offering free education from and for the many diverse communities of San Francisco. All classes are open to the public and free of charge.

Covers soiled with a large splash-stain to front and flecks and smudges to rear, and further soil of the same nature to leaves adjacent to covers. P.14 has lines of ink underlines, staples are rusted with a touch of migration. A fair to good exemplar, reading copy.

Issues present are February, March, August, and October 1980, May and August 1981, December-January, February-March, June-July and October-November 1983, and August-September and March-April 1085.
