Valdobbiadene, Italy: Sci Club Valdobbiadene, 2001. Paperback. Unpaginated, perhaps 80 to 100p., numerous b&w photographs and snapshots very clearly reproduced, amidst a double-column running text. A softbound in oblong 8x11 inch decorated frenchfold wraps. The first blank bears a presentation inscription signed with an abbreviation, no other sign of handling or age, a nice strong copy.

Unpaginated, about eighteen pages, features statistical tables and two vignette photoportraits of current champs, male & female. The guy hadn't won previously, while the woman had won three of the last four competitions. Nice copy, a 9x6 inch pamphlet in terracotta pink wraps titled & decorated in black. Sound, clean and unmarked. The first such annual to be held west of the Rocky Mountains.

Berkeley: UC Berkeley, 1961. Pamphlet. 80p., upright booklet in 8x4 inch wraps, nice clean copy. More pix of team managers (coaches, medics) than of players, but interesting that of ten athletes shown in vignette portrait, two (Larry Ferguson and Charlie Mitchell) are African Americans. Sports Director Hallock's contact info includes his home phone in nearby Lafayette.

[New York], 1976. Hardcover. A bound volume containing photoreproductions of 28 different trial documents from the Southern District of New York, where the boxing referee Anthony Perez sued Muhammad Ali for $20 million for making statements that Perez called malicious, false and defamatory. The lawsuit was ultimately quashed, and the two eventually resumed their friendship. This set of documents was custom-bound for an attorney, in buckram boards with the attorney's name printed at the bottom of the spine, and numbered tabs along the fore-edge. A hefty tome, 9x13 inches, almost 2 inches thick. Very good.

Published out of the same location as the Baseball Hall of Fame, the journal of the Society for American Baseball Research was published once a year until 2009 when it switched to twice a year. Baseball Research Journal was previously titled "The National Pastime" but changed to its current title in 1997.

Magazine. 60p., magazine format with beaucoup advertisements in color and b&w, 10.5x8 inch color wraps (blond student looking up from her book at a pantheon of jocks), slight external handling soil, staples have a touch of rust (no migration), a very good copy. FYI, the cigarette ads are more flamboyant than the car ads.

Includes multiple articles on the Big Game between Stanford and Cal, which had been disrupted by a member of the People's Athletic Committee who ran onto the field with a Viet Cong flag, including the Gay Liberation Front's perspective on the event. Also includes a communiqué from Timothy Leary (then in exile in Algeria after having been freed from prison by the Weather Underground), a Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comic, and more.

Berkeley's longest running underground newspaper. Cover story is on Rennie Davis, the Chicago Seven defendant who had become a follower of then 15-year-old Guru Maharaj Ji. Also includes an interview with Billie Jean King and articles on a performance by ex-Cockettes, the National Black Police Convention, and more.

Biography and memorial to the midget car racer who died at age 23 in an accident in June 1937. Includes excerpts from newspaper articles, passages Betteridge underlined in his Bible, and selections from his scrapbook. Betteridge participated in the construction of the first midget auto racers and competed in the earliest races, held on dry lake beds in southern California. He was inducted into the Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame in 2002. WorldCat reports only one location (October 2023).
