Lacks the portrait of Fuller. 4to old calf old marginal paper strengthening to red and black printed title. There is a pencil note in the front which says "An exceptionally fine copy. I had it rebound about 1930." Gilt edges.

Engraved title page in architectural border. Woodcut initials and headpieces. Text is crisp with some browning and minor spots. Title is trimmed to fore and lower edges. Marginal tear from lower outer corner R1. Original leather boards rebacked over raised bands with hand lettered label. Overall a very good and handsome copy. Arthur Hildersam was an English Puritan 1563-1632.

London. Printed and sold by the Booksellers in Town and Country., 1738. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 6½"x4¼" (17cm x 12cm). Original full blind stamped leather board rebacked. Portrait plate faces title page + A-Qq4 pages; each sermon is separately paginated; the book is complete. Endpapers have some browning and ink inscriptions. The portrait and title page show evidence of a tape repair which has now been restored. The date has been shaved at the base of the title page leaving the top part of the Roman numerals visible. Some light foxing / light browning in the text which is otherwise clean and crisp. This is the first edition of this very early set of sermons and the only one published in 1738. It was then re-published 3 times in 1739 and only once more in 1745. A rare collection published just 3 years after Whitefield's conversion and held in a handful of Institutional Libraries. Portrait of Taylor facing title, frayed around the edges and browning at the edges of the first dozen or so pages. [16], 208, 219-855 [11]pp Wide margins, text within rules. Very good. Original leather boards sometime rebacked in full leather raised bands.

London: printed by T[homas] R[atcliffe], 1649. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 2nd Edition. 2nd edition. Thick octavo. Engraved portrait of Roberts facing typographic title page. [6], 66, 1318, [18]pp 3 folded plates present as called for. Textually very good with good margins and crisp pages. The binding is original early boards later rebacked with raised bands and label. The edges of the book are decorated with stamped gauffered edges. Roberts was a Calvinistic Puritan from Yorkshire, England.

Quarto, 19cm x 15cm Collates complete [8], 352pp. New endpapers. The first few quires are rather dusty and marked, but the margins are good. There are marks, especially margainal, throughout the text. Extremities of the pages are sometimes folded or rubbed, not affecting text. New full leather with blind stamped boards and a slightly sunned spine, over raised bands, red label. This is the only edition of this work and there are no auction records.
John Day (1566-1628) was a divine and son of John Day, the renowned printer. He was a Fellow of Oriel College, Oxford which might explain why 5 of the UK's 10 versions are held at Oxford, including Oriel.

Otherwise a very crisp and clean copy bound in full ruled C17th calf boards attractively rebacked over raised bands in period style. Label.

Printed for J.Oswald, at the Rose and Crown, 1747. Hardcover. Condition: Good. First edition of only four editions. 19cm x 12cm. Paginates viii,[4],347,[1]pp. ffep is missing, otherwise complete. Text is browning but otherwise good throughout. Two-toned panelled original calf, spine with label and raised bands. Rubbed to extremeties, but overall a good to very good copy. No copy in British Library.

Bound in full original boards with a recent handsome reback over raised bands. A very rare item with only 2 recorded copies, BL, Cork. Flexney appears to have gone into bankruptcy the same year as this book was published by him. Perhaps the cost of publishing it caused his financial troubles. Flexney, lived near Gray's Inn Gate, Holborn (from at least 1762 to 1792). Married (1762) to a Ms Broughton, with whom he may have had two or more children.1 Flexney was the original publisher of the poems of Charles Churchill, who wrote of him: Let those who energy of diction prize, For Billingsgate, quit Flexney, and be wise.2 He was a friend also of Percival Stockdale who wrote of "'old friend' Flexney, 'with whom I have passed many convivial and jovial hours.

Cambridge; Printed at the Pitt Press by John William Parker, 1836. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 2 volumes. The printed pages [16cm x 10cm] have been interleaved with larger octavo blank pages [23cm x 14cm] which are heavily annotated in an early ink hand, several different styles. Almost every page of both volumes has been annotated and the printed pages also have ink underlinings and comment. Library cloth with labels, worn and rubbed. There are 10 leaves of handwritten notes (sermon notes?) loosely inserted at the end. We have searched for an author and are unable to find one. A fascinating set of Greek Testament notations. [16],544pp. Title page within ruled border. Pages generally very good, some marks and minor browning. Burn hole to 1 leaf, repaired and affecting a few letters. Otherwise collates complete and in original full C17th leather. A scarce title by an obscure C17th divine.

Collates complete but with a slightly strange hiatus in pagination [20],376,387-598,592-766,777-864,711-950pp with 4 leaves of very unusual Victorian typeset facsimile presented 861/64 within rules (we have never seen this previously). A corner repair to one leaf which touches a couple of words. A very crisp and clean copy with red edges. Rebound in tan half leather with marbled boards, raised bands and a red label.

(16.5cm x 11cm) [16],128pp. Portrait of Hale faces a typographic title page. This is a scarce variant edition printed in the year following the first edition. ESTC R203763. Only 2 locations outside of the UK. Full original leather boards neatly rebacked over raised bands. A very good copy.

Mmm3 with small textual loss cutting into lower 5 lines. Final 20 or so pages are browned. Full original C17th lether boards recently rebacked over raised bands and attractive period style label.
