The diary of John Carrington, a working farmer in the early 19th century, of Bacon's Farm in the village of Bramfield. Carrington was also the Overseer of the Poor and Surveyor of Highways, Tax Assessor and Collector for Bramfield and Chief Constable of a number of parishes - he wrote his diary entries on any scraps of paper at hand - I wonder he had time left for farming.
