On left side sideways block is printed, "The Black Hawk Boiler Works. From the account of George Stroehle and Sons. Checks made out to James A. Richmond in the amount of $24.00 and endorsed by him on the back, and J. W. Williams for $6.00 and endorsed by him and Toby Zanella on the back. Both checks signed by John Stroehle. Cancellations dated Jan 4 and 9 (?), 1913 on the front. Light soiling, but vg.

(Chickasha, OK): Privately Printed, 1994. First Edition. Soft cover. Good+. Two printed manuscripts, stapled. 50pp. & 127pp. PLEASE NOTE: These manuscripts are NOT about Bigfoot / Sasquatch, the legendary primate. These two remarkable volumes, the first one (BSD - A study, etc.) is a Senior Seminar. The second one under the pseudonym, Perry Noid, repeats the title, Bohemian Sasquatch Detection. It is printed as "the first edition of an early draft" & on the cover says, "Unpublished work (copyright) Mark Posey". Along with the volumes is a copy of a "Certificate of Registration", "Form TX For a Literary Work United States Copyright Office". It was filled out in 1994 by Posey (of Chickasha Okla) & has a registration number. Eugene: Lone Goose Press, 1996. Limited/Numbered. Soft cover. Collectible Fine. Broadside 10" x 14 1/4" limited to 100 copies, this copy being #38. Printed at the Lone Goose Press of Eugene, Oregon, and signed by illustrator Susan Lowdermilk & the great modern novelist of Montana and the Pacific Northwest, as well as the writer of fine memoirs, the late Ivan Doig. This 1996 broadside contains an excerpt from Doig's 1983 work. The fine paper is light grayish-brown in color and the illustrations are quite subtle. Fine. Will be shipped flat to buyer.

Denver: Bella Luna, 1996. First Thus. Soft cover. Fine. Broadside about 14" x 17". This one is copy "H" of 26 lettered copies (regular edition was 350 copies). Signed by novelist David Guterson (Snow Falling on Cedars) and one initial by illustrator Debbie Faas. Printed by Tom Parson on gray paper handmade by Ray Tomosso. Excerpt from Guterson story. Fine. This more limited edition scarce.

Telephone Watertown 118. Some browning, but in vg condition. No date on poster but Peck served in & around 1940.

Still good, showy.

The Housekeeper, 1906. Soft cover. Fine. Clipped paper ad from The Housekeeper, August, 1906. 4 1/2" x 8 1/2", "Get a Home in Texas" etc, "Does this Interest YOU?" Drawing of State of Texas with a hand coming down from Oklahoma to Corpus Christi. Touts "an entirely new part of the Lone Star State: the Gulf Coast, along the St. Louis, Brownsville & Mexico Ry." Rates are given for the trip and at the bottom a form to clip and send to John Sebastian, Pass. Traffic Mgr. of the Rock Island. Just a clipping, but has some drama. Fine.

Seattle: Gipsy Smith Evangelistic Mission, 1940. Soft cover. Collectible Near Fine. Original song post card with schedule of appears on the back. 3 1/2" x 5/ 1/2". Printed in purple. Portrait of Smith on one corner. On one side is the song, "The Beauty of Jesus" -- "Sing it with Gipsy Smith in the Civic Auditorium" etc. On the back of the unused card is the daily schedule in Seattle between March 3 and March 21, in Seattle WA. The card was folded in half; still in vg condition. Smith was a British evangelist for over 70 years and an early member of what was to become the Salvation Army. Wiki says, "Smith was born in a Romani bender tent in Epping Forest, six miles northeast of London.

Hollywood: Privately published, 1935. Soft cover. Very Good. Signed & dated slip autographed by the famous comic actor Harold Lloyd to Mrs. J. P. Newell of Portland, Oregon. Slip, referencing Lloyd in Los Angeles and Hollywood, is dated 9/26--1935. ALONG WITH original stamped and canceled printed and typed envelope from "Harold Lloyd Corporation / Drawer 'L' / Hollywood, California." Canceled September 27, 1935 in Los Angeles. The third piece is just a news or magazine clipping photo of Lloyd from 1925's, The Freshman." Very good condition and collectable especially with original mailing envelope. What a fabulous and funny actor or performed many of his own stunts!

Seattle: Third Place Books, 2004. Limited Edition. Soft cover. Fine. Tall broadside, 10" x 20". Light blue motif heads the text, printed on cream paper by Stern & Faye "in celebration of John Dunning's author appearance at Third Place Books on March 10, 2004." Signed by Dunning. The21 line text is from Dunning's Janeway biblio mystery, The Bookman's Promise. Fine.

Mesquite, TX: Jim Shoulders Rodeo Company. Soft cover. Fine. Paper ephemera. Two-sided folded white background card printed in black & red. Shows "six shooter" with handle extending down one corner and oblong edges on other side. "Draw! Partner / That's what you do -- Draw a crowd with / SHRINE championship RODEO / Produced by the Champion / JIM SHOULDERS / Rodeo Company -- Mesquite, Texas / ENTERTAINMENT that goes over with a (open the fold) BANG (shown on both inside sides of folder). Back side of card refers to the Shrine Championship Rodeo July 11 - 13, 1960. Fine condition. Scarce item as some of these have little or printing on them.

Buffalo: Gies & Co, 1877. Soft cover. Fair. Size 13 ¾" x 19 ¾". Often reproduced in the next few decades, this may be an early if not the first issue. The paper is obviously brittle with edge chips, a long tear (archivally repaired without sophistication on the back side) and has stains. Nevertheless, the design and remarkable lettering typical from this period makes this project of archival matting and framing one that will have a pleasing result. Gies was one of the high profile producers of chromolithography in the nineteenth century. Cannot be shipped media rate. Will be shipped flat and protectively at cost to buyer.

n.p.: M K & T RR, 1904. Original. Soft cover. Very Good. A very nice if cancelled engraved stock certificate issued by the M, K, and T (the "Katy") railroad appropriately mounted and framed and under glass. Fifteen shares issued in 1905 to De Coppet & Co. Frame size 12" x 16 1/2." This is from my personal collection and I had it custom framed many years ago. It's time to send it to a new home. The engraved roundhouse illustration is very, very nice, as is the head lettering. The frame has a few scratches which can be easily dealt with using the appropriate oils. Not to justify the minor scratches (it was a used frame when I framed it), but sometimes historical ephemera should not be put into brand new frames-- just my aesthetics). The item will be carefully packed and shipping will be at cost to the purchaser at the cheapest rate unless a higher express rate is requested.

Chicago: Tavern Service and Tavern Keepers Assoc, 1950. Original. Soft cover. Collectible Very Good. Original, circa 1950 notice poster for tavern patrons posted in Chicago taverns and printed/published by the Tavern Keepers Association. The Service was headquartered at 431 So. Dearborn St. and the prefix of the telephone number WEBSTER 9-0727 is noted in the Digital Research Library of Illinois History Journal. Size 7: x 10 3/4". Decorated border. Dark blue printing. Printed by E. Schoenenberger & Son. Small stain lower left corner and slight loss of color at the corners; else vg condition on thick card stock.

Simcoe: W. F. Nickerson, 1896. First Edition. Soft cover. Fine. Original printed notice "In the Matter of Albert E. Cattle, of the Town of Simcoe in the County of Norfolk, Merchant Tailor as Insolvent." Then 4 paragraphs of detail in fine print, & at bottom is printed "W. F. Nickerson / Assignee & H. D. Petrie / Solicitor for Assignee / Dated Simcoe July 20th, 1896." Size: 5 1/4" x about 8 1/2". Well printed with wide margins. Fine.

Munich (München): Zentralverlag der NSDAP, 1939. Soft cover. Very Good. Robert Fuchs. We do not see any indication that this is a reprint. Illustrated poster or broadside, 9 3/8" x 13 1/2". Brown ink drawing and text on light brown paper. The number "27" is written in red pencil or perhaps ink in the lower right hand corner. Translated: "In faith in Germany / we will be fate / master." Artist is Robert Fuchs. From description of former owner: "image of line drawing of man standing on right holding large stake, on left woman holding child in her arms with girl standing behind her and one child beside her, background Nazi eagle perched on top of swastika, artist's signature "Robert Fuchs" in lower right of image. text printed below image..., weekly message of the NSDAP for July 2-8, 1939."
