Description:
Detroit: B N Pub. Co, 1937. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good+. Blue hardbound with gilt title. 320pp. Owner's inscription says that Benbow presented this book to him 'while on a visit to his home at Fort Madison, Iowa." This book is composed of dramatic vignettes (in play form, but briefly) of several scenes & subjects: Chouteau & Co. fur depot, New Orleans; the Palace of Napoleon; Sac & Fox Villages of Chief Wapello on the Mississippi; Fort Madison, Iowa; the Schooner Kenosha on the Great Lakes; the Mormon Temple Council Room in Nauvoo; a camp at Fort Bridger, Wyoming; a Sierra Nevada mountain valley; a Sioux Indian camp with Chief Red Cloud, etc.. Appendix One, "The 'Aryan Fallacy' Anthropological Truth", appears to make the point of the book an argument against the abuse of the term, "Aryan." Vg+ copy (no dj) of an unusual book that was apparently trying to speak to the growing Nazi Reich in Europe at the time. Rather scarce in the 1st edition.
