Romance from Good Old Books

Boston: Lee and Shepard, 1884 411 pages, very decorative cover, pages toned, solid binding. very light wear to top and bottom of backstrip.

New York: Harper and Brothers 412 pages and 8 pages of "Some Popular Novels" published by Harper and Brothers. No date, 11 illustrations. A solid copy with gilt titling on backstrip. Some minor stains, previous owner's signature, slight wear to cloth.

New York: Houghton Mifflin, 1903 340 pages, illustrated.

New York: George D. Sproul, 1902 560 pages, minor light wear to edges, and the backstrip which was originally green is now brown leather although the gilt is quite clean.

New York: Carlton Press, Inc., 1974 144 pages, signed by Jay Johnston desmond, not sure exactly who that is but perhaps a relative of the author. Minor stain on front free end page by the signature. Fairly scarce.

New York and London: D. Appleton, 1914 315 pages, (1) indicating first. Rear board shows mild stain.

New York: Dodd Mead & Company, 1900 213 pages, a nicely decorated book with color frontispiece, deckl;ed pages. Solid and clean.

London: Tower Publishing Co., 1895 444 pages plus ads from the publisher. The cover shows some wear although the binding is tight. A respectable copy.

Garden City, N.Y.: Doubleday & Co., Inc., 1913 339 pages, small stain on cover.

Berlin: Bong & Co. 420 pages, very gently cocked, a small dent on back. No date. A fancy edition with gilt edged top and padded brown leather.

Munchen: Phoebus 61 pages, Bücher Illustrierte Universal, circa 1920. Backstrip leather mildly soiled, water drop stain on cover, pages browning. Illustrated.

New York: D. Appleton, 1910 502 pages, subtle stain on cover.

Leipzig: Bernard Tauchnitz, 1890 288 pages, only one volume of the two volume set.

New York: Harper & Bros., 1918 327 pages, August, 1918 ( H-S as symbolized by Harper & Bros. ) Illustration is nearly loose; it could be affixed as it was tipped in originally. The boards are an attractive red. Initials of previous owner on front free end page.
