Description:
Paris?: Palais Sous Les Robes. Good. 1882. Hardcover. x, 188 pp. Signed Champs-Stroobants binding, 3/4 brown cloth with striking brown/orange marbled boards, some light rubbing and minor wear, morocco label a bit aged, front board very slightly forward. The blanks are of heavier stock than the rest of the book. Title and half have some light foxing, very occasional thumbing, but otherwise clean and good. Wide margins. The famous extremely popular pornographic novel, a best seller in 18th century France, dealing with the debauching of a virgin by a priest and her subsequent descent into sexual licentiousness. Quite racy! This is a very scarce Palais Sous Les Robes edition (a small, sometime publisher whose other major work was an edition of The Education of Laura, also in 1882). Not in Worldcat and no other copies of this edition to be found anywhere. An unusual addition to any erotic collection. Lovely binding.; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 188 pages .
