Letters on Music, To A Lady. By Louis Ehlert. Translated [from the German] by Fanny Raymond Ritter. Boston: Oliver Ditson and Company. 1870. First Edition.***"Ehlert takes the last compositions of Beethoven as his starting point and then proceeds to the discussion of the works of some more recent composers [in 1870]." From the Preface. A charming look at the German composers reflect not only his interest in their music but in their lives. Very readable with insight and a bit of whimsy added.
