R.H. Russell, New York, 1901. This is the "Wayside Series" edition of The "Bab" Ballads, BAB being a childhood nickname of W.S. Gilbert before he went on to team with Mr. Sullivan to make theatrical history. 6 1/8" X 3 7/8" bound in green leather with 5 raised bands by the Fifth Avenue Bookshop. The corner tips are abradedand there is wear at the spine ends and on some of the bands. In addition, there is a light white residue on parts of the covers which leads me to believe that someone may have tried to polish or saddle soap these beautiful covers. 184pp.. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket.

Lightly smudged, Scuffs along fore edge of front cover. About G. Mr. Gilbert's very silly poems. 350 illustrations throughout the book by the author.. Soft cover.

Harcourt, Brace and Company, NY, N/D 8.5 X 5.75" in light green cloth. A few smudges on the pre-title page and flyleaf. Jacket nicely protected in a heavy plastic cover. Why so cheap, then? Because some idiot attached the plastic book protector with what appears to be old black electrician's tape. You know, the kind that seems to be made out of TAR. This has left, I'm afraid, indelible black marks on the book's covers. Also old bookshop stamp on rear endpapers, but that is small potatoes compared to the mess made by the tape. Someone extremely clever about cleaning things might want to take a shot at this. The book is otherwise about VG-.. F. Hardcover.
