Description:
Chicago: M.A. Donohue & Co, 1900. Pictorial boards. Very good. 8vo; [46pp]; quarter bound tan cloth with chromolithographed paper over board; illustrated endpapers; black and white illustrations throughout; bumping to cover corners and chipping to edges with paper loss, loss of 1" chip rear cover paper top edge, , light soiling, age toning of pulp paper pages; very good minus. Date of book is based on the change of the publisher's name from Donohue and Henneberry to M.A. Donohue & Co. in 1901 and continued with this name until the 1960s. This style of book typically called a "board book". It featured a bright and attractive color illustrated cover but inexpensive pulp paper pages with a poor quality of printing. They were frequently produced in large numbers for holiday sales and reused publisher's stories and illustrations. Collectability is based on the covers.
