Previous owners names inscribed inside first two recto blank pages, looks to be handed down over a couple of generations. Interior bright, clean. Nice copy. Beattie [1735-1803] was a Scottish poet who was best known for his popular "Essay on the Nature and Immutability of Truth" and his poem "The Minstrel" which was first published in 1771, and is known for its fine descriptive writing. Beattie gained praise from Samuel Johnson.
